From Cinema to Classroom: Short Film Teaching Method Workshop
Motivated by the excellent turnout and satisfaction from previous participants and intending to keep gathering teachers, professors, educators and school librarians to build long-term partnership with the education system with the aim of increasing the quality and quantity of film classes, as well as professional training in the area of film, for the third year in a row, in association with the Croatian Audiovisual Centre – Film Literacy Project, we are organising a workshop From Cinema to Classroom, dedicated to teaching about short film.
This event is designed to provide the participants with practical teaching knowledge and tools to organise a class or an (extra)curricular activity. This year we expanded the event in terms of theme so, in addition to film as part of teaching media culture and Croatian, we will examine film in art and visual art, film in sciences, film criticism and film analysis, theory and practice of screenwriting, as well as adapting literature for the screen.
Throughout nine workshops we will watch and examine a series of award-winning contemporary Croatian short films – fiction, animated, experimental, commissioned and documentary, and we also look forward to the premiere of a teacher training workshop based on a feature film, the sci-fi adventure My Grandpa is an Alien, which will be released in cinemas in March.
